What is RFID?
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. It is a technology that uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. RFID tags contain electronically stored information that can be read by a reader device without physical contact.
How does RFID work?
RFID systems consist of three components
- RFID Tag/Transponder: Contains a microchip and antenna, storing information.
- RFID Reader/Transceiver: Emits radio waves and receives signals back from the RFID tag.
- Antenna: Allows the tag and reader to communicate.
When the RFID tag comes within range of the reader's electromagnetic field, it transmits the stored information to the reader.
